The main public means of transport in Baku are inexpensive bus, metro (underground) and taxis. Also it is available to find possible “rent a car” services via e-search if you want to cover some serious distance.
From the end of 2015, single-card system ("BakıKART") started to be applied in most types of the public transport of Baku that is available to purchase at metro stations and at certain bus stops. “BakuKart” is useful for payment at underground and BakuBus. The very practical and regular (every 2-3 minutes) metro has two lines than meet in “28 May” metro station that has double entrances to first and second lines. Baku State University is situated up to metro station ‘Elmler Akademiyasi”. Fares are quiet cheap and cost 20q per ride with no interdependence of distance. In respect of taxis, it is important to note that there are 2 types of taxis in Baku. One group of taxis are unmetered and demand sometimes unexpected costs. However, the other group of private taxis and BakuTaxi (London style taxis) are metered that are introduced in 2011.
