Since 1968 Baku State University started to prepare specialists for foreign countries and International Students` Admission Office was created. In that period students from Asia, Africa, Latin America and Middle East studied in various department of BSU. Further university alumnies built succcessful carer in their home countries. In the Soviet period the academy of foreign graduates of university take high positions in the states they represent and they are leading force in governmental structures. Since its inception, the Russian language department was established.
During Soviet time academic school of Russian language was established. The link with leading Russian Universities of languages promotes teaching excellence and innovation in education.
Beside students learn how to speak in informed and articulate ways about a range of theory, research, and resources relevant to literature, language, and composition studies.
The mission of the Department Azerbaijani Language is to provide courses that foster essential communication and clear thinking and that stress social awareness and intellectual growth. The department covers the basis for self-expression, self-knowledge, written and oral communication, and creative adaptation to the changing realities of life. Students and faculty members improve development through a variety of service and scholarly activities.
Admissions for preparatory department are held on 26th of august-20th of September

After submitting documents the student will be accepted to Baku State University’s humanitarian preparatory department. They will be taught regular language courses and subjects according to their specialization. During the preparatory study period foreign applicants are required to pass some exams and then pass the final examination. Applicants who have passed the exams successfully will receive a certificate about finishing the preparatory course and will be considered as a first course student.
